Resurrection Reading Plan

As we prepare for Resurrection Sunday we will focus on the person and work of Jesus Christ. Over the next several weeks we will look at Old and New Testament passages that predicted Jesus' coming, and His fulfillment of them.

Christ: The Old Testament tells us about the family and birth of the Christ

March 13: The Redeemer (Genesis 3:15)
"And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; He shall bruise you on the head, and you shall bruise him on the heel."
March 14: Descendent of Abraham (Genesis 12:1-3)
"Now the Lord said to Abram, “Go forth from your country, and from your relatives and from your father’s house, to the land which I will show you; and I will make you a great nation, and I will bless you, and make your name great; and so you shall be a blessing; and I will bless those who bless you, and the one who curses you I will curse. And in you all the families of the earth will be blessed.””
March 15: Through Isaac (Genesis 17:19)
"But God said, “No, but Sarah your wife will bear you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac; and I will establish My covenant with him for an everlasting covenant for his descendants after him.”"
March 16: Through Jacob (Genesis 28:14)
"Your descendants will also be like the dust of the earth, and you will spread out to the west and to the east and to the north and to the south; and in you and in your descendants shall all the families of the earth be blessed.
March 17: Through Judah (Genesis 49:10)
"The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet, until Shiloh comes, and to him shall be the obedience of the peoples.
March 18: Through David (2 Samuel 7:12-13)
"When your days are complete and you lie down with your fathers, I will raise up your descendant after you, who will come forth from you, and I will establish his kingdom. He shall build a house for My name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.
March 19: God born of a virgin (Isaiah 7:14)
"Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel.
March 20: Born in Bethlehem (Micah 5:2)
“But as for you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, too little to be among the clans of Judah, from you One will go forth for Me to be ruler in Israel. His goings forth are from long ago, from the days of eternity.”

Christ: The Old Testament tells us about the actions of the Christ

March 21: Prophet (Deuteronomy 18:18)
“I will raise up a prophet from among their [a]countrymen like you, and I will put My words in his mouth, and he shall speak to them all that I command him.”
March 22: Priest (1 Samuel 2:35)
“But I will raise up for Myself a faithful priest who will do according to what is in My heart and in My soul; and I will build him an enduring house, and he will walk before My anointed always.”
March 23: Light (Isaiah 9:1-2)
“But there will be no more gloom for her who was in anguish; in earlier times He treated the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali with contempt, but later on He shall make it glorious, by the way of the sea, on the other side of Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles. The people who walk in darkness will see a great light; those who live in a dark land, the light will shine on them.”
March 24: King (Isaiah 9:16)
“For those who guide this people are leading them astray; and those who are guided by them are brought to confusion.”
March 25: Healer (Isaiah 53:4)
“Surely our griefs He Himself bore, and our sorrows He carried; yet we ourselves esteemed Him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.”
March 26: Sacrifice (Isaiah 53:10)
“But the Lord was pleased to crush Him, putting Him to grief; if He would render Himself as a guilt offering, He will see His offspring, He will prolong His days, and the good pleasure of the Lord will prosper in His hand.”

Christ: The Old Testament tells us about the death of the Christ

March 27: Mocked (Psalm 22:7)
“All who see me sneer at me; they separate with the lip, they wag the head, saying,”
March 28: Pierced (Psalm 22:16)
“For dogs have surrounded me; a band of evildoers has encompassed me; they pierced my hands and my feet.”
March 29: Lots for Cloths (Psalm 22:18)
“They divide my garments among them, and for my clothing they cast lots.”
March 30: Buried (Isaiah 53:9)
“His grave was assigned with wicked men, yet He was with a rich man in His death, because He had done no violence, nor was there any deceit in His mouth.”
March 31: Resurrect (Psalm 16:10)
“For You will not abandon my soul to Sheol; nor will You allow Your Holy One to undergo decay.”
